Often, I wish I could go back in time...to a more simple life. I often find myself wondering how it would have been to hang my laundry on the lines in my cute little 1950's style dress, while the homemade bread baked in the oven, ready for Daddy and the kids when Daddy came home from work. Yep, we'd live in a tiny cottage--not a mansion of sorts--we would treasure the small cozy rooms that housed reduced electric bills and necessities. My day to day grind would be centered on the home, the children, and Daddy of course. Yet, I live in a time when the day to day grind is far different than that above. Family meal time? When both Steve and I are in and out, family meals are best served with a bowl of cereal...not homemade bread! I won't go into the laundry thing--those living with me know how devastating that sight is! Dresses...well even a modern woman can't give that one thing up! I am grateful I can reach far and wide, expanding my knowledge and skills, but my mansion--I am hoping--will be a quaint little cottage where children are plenty and homemade bread bountiful (cookies and cake too!). My mansion will be a place where Daddy comes home to us daily with a full heart from the great work he is doing rather than a heavy heart, burdened by the world. I will quilt and read to the children without the distractions of modern conveniences, and the worries of time and deadlines will be a thing of the past--literally! Sounds like a mansion worth striving for...to me it does!

Back in Time
Often, I wish I could go back in time...to a more simple life. I often find myself wondering how it would have been to hang my laundry on the lines in my cute little 1950's style dress, while the homemade bread baked in the oven, ready for Daddy and the kids when Daddy came home from work. oh crystal that sounds lovely. So relaxed , And how we are probably supposed to be but like you said in todays world that is hard . You do great work . Keep it up .
Love ya
I love how well you put thoughts and hopes into words. Oh how I wish we could return to this life... It made me think what I could do right now to be closer. I think if I was able to make a small change each day eventually it would happen... You're amazing Crystal, I just love reading your blog... so inspirational! Hey we could always buy some land in the middle of nowhere and build our cottages- like we've talked about!
Well said. Feels like a dream, huh? . . . You and Lydia look so pretty.
Hey Crystal... yep you can say we're blogging friends now. Thanks to your brave husband(not too many people comment on a strangers blog, so good for him) It's always nice to meet someone new. I have two boys, 3 and 1 month, and I love being a mom. I really enjoyed your last post, and I totally agree. How would life be if we were able to only focus on our home and families? Thanks for introducing yourself and your family to us. We look forward to sharing all the happenings in our life with you.
That sounds very nice. Life would definately be simpler in the ways of what is really important. We wouldnt be so caught up in technology, the latest styles, bigger and better houses, etc. The most important thing in life is just family and close friends. Thanks for the post!
Loving that picture! and the new banner is really cool too. The other thing about going back in time is you didn't have to make up chores to try to teach your young boys how to work - there really were real chores that they needed to help with, if that makes any sense at all.
First off I'm loving the picture! You both look so beautiful! I don't know what it is about the old fashion look but I love it. It is found all over in my house. So that picture and the way you made it all old fashion is just to die for! Well said Crystal! It is always nice to look back and remember the way it was...and the way it should be. Our Heavenly Father has truly blessed us with so much, he just wants us to hold on the good of how life was lived, and move forward with the new but in a simple fashion. If only we could all do it. Wouldn't this world be lovely? One day, one day when he comes again life will be perfect for all of us! I can't wait! I guess tell then we are luck to have your posts to remind us, our families to love us, and our Savior to hold us.
I am going to comment on the last few weeks here up top so you will see it! To go back to a simpler time would be ideal. I try to make life in the house simple but of course chaos rules with two little girls in it. I have to know...did you make the headbands Lydia wears? They are so ADORABLE! Of course you did? You make amazing quilts in your spare time while you are not in school, doing homework, raising 2 boys, and preparing for a fourth child :) Zac and I keep talking about going down to the temple and I really want to take the kids. Last time I went I was pregers with Kori and I almost passed out kneeling for so long. Needless to say we had to cut out early. I love the temple too and the feeling you have when you are there. It would be nice to be there and feel that way again. I will look for baby Shane in the painting the next time I go. I saw the new camera you got in one of the pics! Pretty snazzy! We are looking into getting a nicer camera one day. What brand did you get? I LOVE the pic of Aiden with the orange sunset in the background. Awesome picture!
I love that pic. So cute. I hear ya on wanting to go back to a simpler time. Would be nice wouldn't it. Your kids are so cute. Love the 4th outfits. Cute.
