No Place Like Home!

All of us girls took off to see the Wizard of Oz ballet at the beginning of March!  It was a long week of preparation for all the Mommies and Mimi.

We showed that we indeed have the brains, heart, and so much courage to pull through this event!

The girls dresses were mastered by my sister, Santana, and I!  From sequin belts to lined plaid skirts that made all 5 little girls look like they shoulda been on stage, they caught the eyes of every person in the theatre!  It was a little girls dream come true!

My Mom gathered all of us at her house a few hours before departure and we played the movie in the back ground while we all ate yummy food and had an awards ceremony from all of the wonderful things they learned and executed this week.
Aunt Sunny, their preschool teacher, taught the girls the story line and every trait which was gained on the path to Oz!!!
They told of where they would go if they had ruby red slippers...
Lydia said she would go through a forest to a princess castle...
Maya said, "I would go to a park!"

They used their heart to show kindness...and gave an entire tun of goodies away to someone who doesn't live in their homes.  Believe me, this was challenging.  They spent hours baking goodies with Aunt Sunny, drawing cards, and then they chose who they would show kindness to.
Lydia gave her tub of cookies to the neighbor who was walking home on the way home from preschool.
Maya gave her goodies to Mimi and Papa!
Then they were all taught "courage" as they blindfolded-ly ate an unknown food.  Lydia volunteered to go first and spit the gross (oreo cookie) food out.  Maya went second, hesitantly spit it out, and Hallie went third and delightfully accepted the sugary contents without revealing it's true trade name.  When Lydia found out it was an oreo, she suddenly loved the "new food"!  All week long, Lydia asked me if she could try "courage"!  Hmmm....if only courage tasted like cookies all the time!
We are teaching these girls that their virtues will be taught...at home...
Their worth will always be known...at home...
And there is no place like home!

Everybody wanted a piece of Mimi!
But Lydia did get the special seat!

I come from some stellar women!  At the end of the awards ceremony, every little Dorthy was given a dose of marshmallow courage from Papa and a little gummy heart from Mimi!  They are the best!

A few days later, my sister turned 31...
All of my kids made her cards that said "Aunt Sunny is 30!"  Opps...I warned her to just thank them cause that was my mistake!!! I made her a purse... to fit everything she is!

Surprise!!!

My sister and I took the liberty to gather all the kids together and make a trip to see my Dad for his Birthday.  It was a surprise...so my Dad was completely unaware.  Sunny and I spent an entire day baking a German Chocolate cake from scratch...it was far TOO good!
And then we drove...with screaming cranky children...
We drove and drove and drove...
And the children cried and fought....and cried and fought.

My sister and I almost cried too!
Grandpa Roy was very happy!

The children were genuinely goofy!

Family Date

Sometimes a family date night can be as simple as Chik-fil-A
We were so lucky to come out on the night the cow roamed the floors!
We came across some old railroad equipment and tested the boys strength!
It was a simple, fun, and long night...Target stops can be pretty long!

Valentine's

Valentine's Day was spent at preschool for the girls and I.  Aunt Sunny, their preschool teacher, made sure they had a fun treat filled day, while Aunt Tana made sure there was homemade pizza awaiting every hungry tummy at lunch time!

My sweet boys loved taking their homemade Valentine;s boxes to school.  Aiden's was a lego and Connor's box was a soda bottle pig!

Connor won first place in his classes contest...he graciously shared the chocolate bar he won with everyone in the family during movie night that Friday!
My sisters dragged me out the door on the Saturday before Valentine's to run a 5K.
It.Was. Miserable.
As soon as we began, the winds picked up to 40 mph, and my unconditioned body ached with each step.  My little sister, Sunny, took first place in her category.
My gracious sister Santana, stayed with me until the last mile and then I asked her to go ahead...because even at 7 months pregnant, she was far more conditioned than me for running.
And I completed my slowest 5K of all time!  It was enough for me to say "I'M NOT A RUNNER!"  But then, I got myself on the treadmill 3-5 times a week after, and my pace has shaved off 2 minutes per mile already.  Funny, the mind games we feed into.

My children and husband had the "old runner" faith in me.  There was a time I could compete for first place, not so long ago.  They still think I am #1 regardless of how fast I go, however!
Little do they realize, they make me feel like I am #1 every day--as they me to hold them, feed them, read them stories (and yes, the child who begs more than any, is still my dear Connor), and hug me so tight.  There are nights when I cannot escape the grasp of Connor and Aiden, literally!  My children are my world!

February Snow!

We received our first, and maybe last, snow of the season!

The snowman built by Mommy and the girls was rather small...
And the one built by Daddy, for the boys, was kinda lopsided!  His name was Wilson, appropriately inherited by his arms!
The boys enjoyed their 2 hour delay!

And just as I did in my girlhood, they dreamed that more snow would come the following day!  Only dreams in NM!

Craft days...

Yes, it's true...I've been obsessed with crafts lately!

Most days have been filled with activities that organize and beautify the home!

Can't forget the things which soothe the belly!

And most importantly, the things which bring big smiles on my kiddos faces!
