Valentine's Day was spent at preschool for the girls and I. Aunt Sunny, their preschool teacher, made sure they had a fun treat filled day, while Aunt Tana made sure there was homemade pizza awaiting every hungry tummy at lunch time!
My sweet boys loved taking their homemade Valentine;s boxes to school. Aiden's was a lego and Connor's box was a soda bottle pig!
Connor won first place in his classes contest...he graciously shared the chocolate bar he won with everyone in the family during movie night that Friday!
My sisters dragged me out the door on the Saturday before Valentine's to run a 5K.
It.Was. Miserable.
As soon as we began, the winds picked up to 40 mph, and my unconditioned body ached with each step. My little sister, Sunny, took first place in her category.
My gracious sister Santana, stayed with me until the last mile and then I asked her to go ahead...because even at 7 months pregnant, she was far more conditioned than me for running.
And I completed my slowest 5K of all time! It was enough for me to say "I'M NOT A RUNNER!" But then, I got myself on the treadmill 3-5 times a week after, and my pace has shaved off 2 minutes per mile already. Funny, the mind games we feed into.
My children and husband had the "old runner" faith in me. There was a time I could compete for first place, not so long ago. They still think I am #1 regardless of how fast I go, however!
Little do they realize, they make me feel like I am #1 every day--as they me to hold them, feed them, read them stories (and yes, the child who begs more than any, is still my dear Connor), and hug me so tight. There are nights when I cannot escape the grasp of Connor and Aiden, literally! My children are my world!
