UP!

Well, seem that things are looking up for our little family again!
(And if you haven't seen that movie, you are missing out..."Up!")
A little nun came and sat next to me yesterday while I was working; here's how the conversation went...
Nun: Aren't you grateful you have a job?

Me: I am SOOOO grateful I have a job right now. Actually, my husband is currently unemployed, so I am indeed grateful to have a job.

Nun: Well, what is his name

Me: Steve
(she writes his name into her little black book)

Nun:Well, I will pray for him. What faith are you?

Me: LDS...The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

Nun: Well, say a prayer to St. Francis. He is wonderful at finding things! (and she gives me the cutest little smirk and nod of her head. I think it was St. Francis, my memory fails me when I am pregnant!) Now, what is your name?

Me: Crystal
(she writes my name into her little black book)

Nun: Well, Crystal, let me give you my number, and you call me when he finds a job! He's going to find one, I just know!

Me: Sister, I will call you. We need your prayers, thank you so much!
(she walks away, turns one more time to give me a little wink and a nod, and then leaves the unit)

Well, I said a little prayer this morning after dropping Connor off at school. I prayed to Heavenly Father, it only felt right, and I told Him about the faith of this sweet little nun. I mentioned St. Francis, for her sake, and begged, yet again, that we would find jobs together. The Lord opened His windows! I called the recruiter from the hospital we are working with in Louisiana this morning, left a message, and somehow she called me back and left a message without me hearing the phone ring. I listened to the message with Steve in front of me, eyes wide as a surprised child. I smiled and let him know that she said she has two job offers for us, and he began to cry a fountain! Poor boy has been through a lot with this move. He was offered a position in the ER, and I will be in the ICU.

We told the boys about the news today--Aiden was thrilled when I let him know that Heavenly Father answered our prayers (they have been praying every day that we can get jobs). He said that he wanted to be the one to tell Connor.

When Connor got home, Aiden told him the good news, and he looked at me stunned, gave me the tightest hug, and started jumping up and down--his head bouncing against my chin because he is the biggest six year old ever (unless I am just very short!). This means another school change for first grade, but i think he'll be okay!

Louisiana...here we come!

Hey-- it might have been St. Anthony, which I only know because one of my mom's friends is always talking about how he's her favorite Saint, and he's the patron saint of lost items. And even though the Segos are a long-time Mormon family, we do have a beautiful St. Francis statue in my mom's front yard, which I love.
Your story reminded me of when I was a student at the Catholic University of Lublin in Poland. My dorm was run by nuns and my classes were in an old monastery. Pope John Paul II (Jan Pawel Drugi, as they call him there) taught there before he was the archbishop of Krakow. Anyway, my first summer there I got super sick-- had a kidney stone, and it was about the worst thing I've ever experienced. Anyway, I went to the hospital (several times) and the nuns drove me there. It was actually a little comical to have three nuns in the back, my professor and I in the front with the driving nun, in what was perhaps the world's smallest car. While the sister driving had some serious road rage, the three in the back said the rosary for me over and over. It gave me so much comfort! Most of my friends at the university WERE Catholic, and they all prayed for me. My fellow BYU-students prayed, I prayed, and even the agnostic and atheist kids we knew sent their good vibes my way. I also had a priesthood blessing, and after much struggle and sickness, I was completely healed.
No religion has a corner on prayer, and aren't we glad? Isn't it the best thing ever to know there are people praying for you-- all over the country (and probably beyond as well)?
I'm so happy this has worked out. Maybe the kids will end up with darling southern accents!
Now I'm going to say a prayer of gratitude-- not only that you are being blessed this way, but also that I know you Crystal!

Hi Crystal again congrats to you and your family again. I wanted to say that it may have been St. Cajetan (Ky-a-tan) as he is the patron saint of the unemployed. His feast day is in the same month as your and Sara's birthday on August 7. He is one that our family prayed to a lot when I was younger when my dad lost his job and who I have prayed to for you and others that are in need of employment. Anyway either way your prayers have been answered and I am so happy for you. You and your family will continue to be in my prayers. And I am curious as well, did you call the nun? What did she have to say? God bless you and many hugs to you!

I am so happy for both of you. You continue to bless our lives with your faithfulness. No matter what, you stay faithful and true to the gospel. When you do these things, Father in heaven has no choice but to bless you. He cannot and will not withhold His promised blessings from His faithful children. The Hymn "Count Your Many Blessings" keeps running through my mind right now. Oh how I love the Hymns. Mom and I stand ready to help with whatever you ask of us. Give those little, or not so little, ones a BIG hug from grandpa. Love, Dad

I am happy to say that Rachel was right. It was St. Anthony. I haven't spoken to the nun yet because my gross paperwork is still in my hospital bag sitting in my car. BUT, I work tomorrow, and will call her then! Thanks for your uplifting comments!

Congrats! I am so happy for your family! That is the best news and what a Christmas blessing from above. That is such a sweet story and really fits the moment. As for your boys they are so cute and what good boys they are. Life has taught them so much already and I can only imagine what amazing adults they will be. They are so strong, and with parents like you guys they can't go wrong. We have been praying for you too, and knew the lord word hear the prays that you, and others have spoken. So when is the big move? Good luck with everything. Sounds like life is perfect!
